Kale greenies

Kale is one of the best forms of veg protein there is.

Thanks to our friend Gaye for the knowledge that when one consumes more then 1.5K per day of any cruciferous vegetables like cabbage and kale there is a risk of not being able to absorb iodine: increasing the likelihood of goiters plus other medical conditions. This problem can be stopped by lightly cooking your Kale. Unless you boil it very hard and long, there will be no loss of nutrients.

We sell kale by the handful, keeping one at the front gate almost year around. The cultivator I hold is Siberian kale, my favorite.

I love greenys and a lot of the food we use is from our farm.

  • take 1/4 lb of kale, and dip it into boiling water until well wilted
  • strip the leaves into blender, spinning after each ingredient 
  • add 1/2 cup of water or favorite juice
  • one apple including peel
  • a banana
  • a pinch of sea weed for salt and the iodine
  • add a teaspoon of spirulina
  • blend until finely done
  • drink the sludgy mixture from a glass

I give the rinse of my blender to our two dogs, on separate plates.
